Making debt relief easier

IT won't solve the poverty problem. But IT can help. It can make the work of the social worker easier and give citizens the opportunity to arrange matters themselves within certain limits.

Many applications focus on household books, schedules and overviews for citizens. This is not a solution for the group of people who go to a debt relief worker; they are already so far down the road that they cannot manage by themselves. Those people benefit from personalized help and a listening ear. That is the important work of the professional, the debt relief worker.

Much of the debt relief worker's time is now spent on administrative tasks and a lot of research. We help this debt relief worker with smart IT applications, leaving time for personal contact. We do this during registration and intake by using necessary data that are already available in other systems. Think of data from the BRP or data from the early warning system. Of course, we ensure that important messages are stored in the case system. We realize links by using the most up-to-date standards, such as Haal Centraal. We build on behalf of the NVVK, the National Debt Exchange, which quickly shows the current debts and immediately proposes remediation. To reduce the caregiver's administrative burden, we offer shared task lists so that the citizen and the caregiver can work together.

And, of course, we also make it easier for the individual in debt with a customer portal, providing them with insight into the progress of the debt restructuring process. Through the portal, they can see the available budget categories and withdraw money from them during budget management. This, in turn, simplifies the work for the debt counselor.

Room for additional attention within the process

We also see that there remains a group of citizens who are not helped by digital applications. This makes it even more important to take so much work off the hands of the social worker that he has time to pay extra attention to this group.

We believe that most people facing debt have not only financial problems. To provide them with effective assistance, the counselor needs to consider a broader perspective beyond finances. For this purpose, we have developed a simple assessment that not only identifies financial issues but also provides insights into problems in other areas of life. The counselor can then collaborate with the individual to determine appropriate interventions or solutions. By conducting regular assessments, we can monitor the person's progress over time. The assessment results can also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions or solutions.

By leveraging smart technology to streamline the administrative work of the counselor, we free up time for what truly matters. This is how we create positive impact in social finance.

We see that there are many good initiatives in the market for supporting municipal processes. By setting up collaborations with other vendors, we can achieve nice accelerations within the social domain. We believe in best-of-breed solutions through collaboration and open standards.
